The Concert -
Cuillerier and Vollrath

What a night in Milford, Nova Scotia! July 14, 2003. Two of Canada's Best fiddlers and composers, Yvon Cuillerier & Calvin Vollrath, for a three hour concert to a full house of fiddle afficionados. The music filled the warm summer air, and the audience fully appreciated the rare, rich musical experience! Fiddlers from afar, even Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, came to hear these fine players
Yvon and Calvin were backed up by Kim Holmes and Greg Simm who did a great job. Kim was a driving force in arranging the concert. THANKS, KIM!

Yvon dazzled the audience with great tunes, many that he had written, including the great Valse Gisele. It was by far the most played tune at last weekend's Maritime Fiddle Festival.

He received standing ovations after both sets.

Calvin's composing range was given full vent as he had the audience dancing, laughing and occasionally almost in tears with emotional songs like the one for the four Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan last year.

This was fiddle entertainment at its best.

The evening wrapped up with a finale where Yvon, Calvin and emcee Ivan Hicks played several great tunes and had us all tapping our toes.

Ivan did a great job making all feel welcome, and keeping the program full of fiddle music.
